Brainerd United Methodist Church is a growing congregation motivated by a vision for witness, nurture and outreach as disciples of Jesus Christ. Three terms best describe us and our ministry as a church: Wesleyan, Missional and Connectional.
We are Wesleyan in our theology. We are a part of the Christian movement known as Methodism, founded by the Reverend John Wesley in the 1700's. Like all Christians, we stand upon God's Word, the Bible as our rule both in faith and in practice. We believe in salvation from sin through faith in Jesus Christ, God's Son, and we seek to grow in God's grace as we press on toward a life of Christian holiness and love, guided and empowered by the Holy Spirit.
We are Missional in our outlook. In all we say and do, we seek to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ and bring people into the kingdom of God. As a part of the body of Christ in the world today, we seek to continue Christ's ministry through sharing the Good News of God's love and serving all who stand in need.
We are Connectional in our ministry. We are a part of the Holston Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Throughout the various levels of our denomination, we participate in opportunities for growth and service to our Lord.
In all the we do, we seek to follow and fulfill our mission statement: Touching lives through Christ by reaching out, bringing in, lifting up and sending forth.
